The low frequency domain solver is ideal for solving time-harmonic eddy current problems such as actuators, sensors, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) devices, medium and high voltage problems such as gas-insulated Switches, electrical machines etc.
Both hexahedral and tetrahedral mesh types are supported in the Low Frequency Domain Solver. This, as part of CST’s complete technology approach, allows the best mesh topology to be applied to the problem at hand.
Source types include current and voltage coils, current and voltage wires. The power loss and current flow distribution are provided by the solver which can then be transferred to the CST EMS Thermal and Magnetostatic Solvers respectively in order to provide the temperature distribution and secondary magnetic quantities such as inductance and force.
