CST – Computer Simulation Technology



In the wakefield solver, the structure is excited by a line current with a longitudinally Gaussian-shaped charge distribution representing the beam. The scattered fields created by particles passing discontinuities (wakefields), are usually considered to be unwanted effects.

The wakefield solver provides results such as beam frequency, wakepotential, impedance, and loss factors.

This solver benefits from advanced functionality embedded in CST MICROWAVE STUDIO® (CST MWS):
  • Waveguide ports enable the recording of output power and signals.
  • The electromagnetic field can be obtained by setting field monitors.
  • Dispersive and lossy metal material properties are available. These allow the evaluation of resistive wall wakefields.

Typcial applications include the simulation of cavities, collimators, and beam position monitors.
